Remember to Have Fun

Remember to Have Fun

In our constant quest for health and fitness, I want to remind all of you to have fun and enjoy an indulgence or two. Life is too short to never have cake, or climb Half Dome. While working out hard in the gym and eating healthy foods are important, it is just as important to play and enjoy a dessert.
One thing I do every year is take a two-week vacation from health and fitness. What this entails is me not going into the gym at all, and getting my exercise done in the great outdoors. Hiking, biking, running, swimming, playing at the park with my girls, going to the water slides with friends, and anything else not gym-related. I still eat healthy, but I allow a few more indulgences than normal.
It resets my body, mind, and soul, and then when I go back to the gym, I am supercharged and excited to get back into training.
Once a week, I take the day off from the gym. Once a month, I allow a party or special outing to indulge me, and while I don’t go overboard, I also don’t stress or feel guilty about it. I enjoy it!
I also try to stay involved in sports that I used to play, such as volleyball and swimming. I think it is important to keep those old flames alive as much as possible. And, it keeps us well-rounded.
Health and fitness should be fun, otherwise it’s not sustainable for the lifelong journey.

Work hard, play harder!
